CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Concerts April-July 2012




Excuse me for doing this but this article is strictly a copy and paste article from the press release I received two weeks ago. I have been working hard on this and found with the info contained in the press release was very good I left it as is-all I did was add pictures and the links(to some)of the ones that are available.
I will not do this again as allot of it did not line up properly, but I had said I would do this and I am just keeping my word is all.

Peter Gabriel / Live Blood / 2-CD
The live orchestral version of Peter Gabriel's New Blood album is now spread out over two CDs, filled with the kind of rare, avant-garde arrangements that made last year's DVD/Blu-ray/3-D versions such critical, Canadian platinum-selling favorites.  Gabriel revisits, recreates and totally reinvents some of his greatest compositions in a massive sweep of emotional resonance. You have yet to truly hear this artist's work until you've heard Live Blood.

Deep Purple / Total Abandon: Australia '99 / CD
Recorded live in Melbourne, Australia in April 1999, Total Abandon is exactly that: a wild onstage ride of epic proportions.  Vocalist Ian Gillan, guitarist Steve Morse, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice pull out all the stops in a career-defining set that spans decades.  This CD (with no overdubs) includes an eight-minute jam on "Pictures Of Home" and a seven-minute version of "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming," in addition to favorites like "Smoke On The Water."

Phil Collins / Live At Montreux 2004 / 2-DVD
Live At Montreux 2004 was originally released on Blu-ray on March 26, 2012 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.  It debuted at #6 in Canada and due to popular demand, will now be released on 2-DVD.  "Sussudio," "In The Air Tonight," "Two Hearts," and many more - it's all here on display, including a 13-song bonus set from Collins' Montreux appearance in 1996.

Simply Red / Live At Montreux 2003 / DVD and Blu-ray
British soulsters Simply Red are beloved veterans of the Montreux Jazz Festival, and this two-hour 18-song soul-drenched set from 2003 marks their Blu-ray debut. The band, lead by Mick Hucknall, performs tasty selections from throughout their 25-year, 10-album career (over 50 million albums sold).  Included are seven bonus tracks from their 2010 appearance at this most prestigious festival, with classics such as "Ain't That A Lot of Love" (1960s), and "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (1970s).

Foreigner / Alive And Rockin' / CD
The timeless rockin' music of Foreigner has always thrived in a live setting and in this 2006 balls-to-the-wall performance from Germany's Bang Your Head festival, guitarist Mick Jones, singer Kelly Hansen, drummer Jason Bonham, keyboardist Jeff Jacobs, bassist Jeff Pilson and multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel absolutely roar on classic after classic to an ecstatic crowd.  "Double Vision," "Head Games," "Feels Like The First Time," and many others (including a mash-up of "Juke Box Hero" and Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love") were all on the menu.  Eagle Rock released a DVD version of this concert in 2007.

Twisted Sister / Club Daze 2: Live In The Bars  and Live At Hammersmith / CDs
Club Daze 2: Live In The Bars takes fans back to the point in time when Twisted Sister was still just a local phenomenon in Long Island, New York.  It picks up where last year's Club Daze left off: back in the hot sweaty environs of loud, gin-soaked barrooms where the good times were earned via ear-bending power chords.  You'll hear Dee SniderJay Jay FrenchEddie "Fingers" Ojeda,Mark "The Animal" Mendoza and A.J. Pero in all their youthful abandon and raw surging aggression, as they pump out live radio performances from Halloween 1979.  Two tracks, "Never Say Never" and "Blastin' Fast & Loud," were originally recorded for their Stay Hungry breakthrough, but never completed.  Live At Hammersmith (2-CD) is vintage 1984 Twisted Sister recorded live at London's famous Hammersmith Odeon.

Stone Temple Pilots / Alive In The Windy City / DVD and Blu-ray

The Raconteurs / Live At Montreux 2008 / DVD and Blu-ray
At 2008's Montreux Jazz Festival, The Raconteurs performed a rough 'n' tumble set of rock 'n' roll split between their two albums, Broken Boy Soldiers and Consolers Of The Lonely (plus a cover of Charley Jordan's 1940s classic "Keep It Clean").  The 100-minute 16-song set, recorded in DTS Surround Sound, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo, filmed in crystal high-definition clarity, is consumed with all the rage and angst Jack White intended when he formed this band in 2005.  White and fellow band members Brendan Benson (co-founder and acclaimed solo artist), drummerPatrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence pummel the extremities of the room to provide a swift kick to the Montreux crowd.

Return To Forever IV / The Mothership Returns/ 2-CD/DVD
Return To Forever IV is the fourth incarnation of arguably the most legendary jazz-rock fusion band of them all: Return To Forever.  This DVD weaves recent interview footage with pianist Chick Corea, bassist Stanley Clarke, drummer Lenny White, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and guitaristFrank Gambale with live concert footage, all filmed in September 2011. The musicians recount the stories behind these songs, while highlights from the performance showcase the band flexing their considerable musical muscles.  Famous for grand compositions in movements with elements of jazz, rock and classical all within the same piece, this is a visual and aural gem of a release.

For guitarist Lee Ritenour's first Blu-ray, this 174-minute 19-song (with interviews) career retrospective is absolute perfection for fans of Jazz/Rock Fusion, Brazilian Samba and Acoustic Jazz.  Divided into four parts which encompass his total oeuvre, and including four tracks from his appearance last year at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Overtime is a musically complex work that features such stalwarts as Dave GrusinPatrice RushenChris BottiErnie WattsEric MarienthalAlex AcunaKenya HathawaySteve Forman and many others. Eagle Rock previously released the DVD component in 2005.

Kasabian / Live! Live At The o2 DVD, Blu-ray, DVD/CD, Blu-ray/CD
Live! Live At The O2 is british band Kasabian's high definition DVD debut, filmed at London's O2 Arena in December 2011.  Touring in support of their #1 Velociraptor! album (their fourth album to date) on a trek that took them through Great Britain and Ireland (a bonus documentary, "I Hear Voices," follows them around both countries), one can plainly see and hear why this band has received numerous awards, including "Best New Album" at the NME Awards. This sold out arena tour also included stops at the Isle of Wight Festival and the iTunes Music Festival.

Pink Floyd / The Story Of Wish You Were Here / DVD, Blu-ray
Released in September 1975, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, the follow-up to the globally successful The Dark Side Of The Moon, was a revelation.  It went straight to #1 in the UK and US, topped charts worldwide, and produced such legendary anthems as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Have A Cigar," and "Welcome to the Machine."  This documentary unveils the story behind this timeless musical offering, with new interviews with Roger WatersDavid Gilmour, and Nick Mason, as well as archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. Original recording engineerBrian Humpries chronicles the creation of Wish You Were Here, revisiting the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios.  The DVD and Blu-ray contain additional bonus material not featured in the TV broadcast version.

A, B, C & D Of Boogie Woogie / Live In Paris / CD
Pianist Axel Zwingenberger, pianist/vocalist Ben Waters (the man behind last year's rollickingBoogie 4 Stu), bassist Dave Green and drummer Charlie Watts formed The A, B, C & D Of Boogie Woogie in 2009 and quickly established themselves as one of the foremost boogie practitioners in Europe, with an eye and an ear on the history of the music they love. This, their debut CD, was recorded live over several nights, and includes originals, improvisations and barrelhouse action like "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66" (1946), "Roll 'Em Pete" (1938), "St. Louis Blues" (1914) and more.

The J. Geils Band / House Party Live In Germany / CD & DVD
With over 9,000 rock 'n' roll fans swaying to his every move, vocalist Peter Wolf led The J. Geils Band J. Geils, guitar; Seth Justman, keyboards; Magic Dick, harmonica; Daniel Klein, bass;Stephen Bladd, drums - through a raucous Dusseldorf house party.  Between the blues, the boogie, and the hard 'n' fast stone cold rockers, it proved to be a night to remember. Filmed for the EuropeanRockpalast television program in 1979, this is The J. Geils Band at its finest.

Duran Duran / A Diamond In The Mind / DVD, Blu-ray, CD
Filmed/recorded on December 15, 2011, just after the release of the All You Need Is Now album, A Diamond In The Mind is quintessential Duran Duran.  Exuding the iconic style and class that have become the band's trademark, this concert features vocalist Simon Le Bon, bassist John Taylor, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, and drummer Roger Taylor serving up the hits live at the MEN Arena in Manchester.  "Ordinary World," "Notorious," "Hungry Like The Wolf," "Rio" - pack that in with bonus interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Peter Gabriel / Secret World /DVD, Blu-ray
In 1994, Peter Gabriel released his second live album and 10th overall, Secret World Live. This is the visual representation of that effort, filled with complex arrangements and stunning musicianship by a big-band of Peter's choosing that fleshes out his compositions with drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, violin, doudouk (an Armenian oboe), dobro, djembe (West African percussion), surdo (Brazilian bass drum), tenor sax, baritone sax, trombone, trumpet, and 5-voice backing vocals. It's a heady stew worthy of a serious groove!

Peter Green Splinter Group / Blues Don't Change / CD
Considered by many to be one of the greatest British blues guitarists of all time, Peter Green has influenced generations of musicians, including Joe Perry and the late Gary Moore.  This Fleetwood Mac/John Mayall's Bluesbreakers alum formed Peter Green Splinter Group in 1997, and the band produced a ten-album legacy.  Blues Don't Change, originally released in 2001 via Eagle Records,is a 9-track testament to the genius of Peter Green, and includes a cover of The Doors' "Crawlin' King Snake."

Neil Sedaka / The Show Goes On / CD
Live onstage at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England in 2006, singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka is not only in fine form vocally on his most beloved compositions, but totally eloquent on the piano.  Recorded for a PBS special, the stylish early-rock 'n' pop maestro belts out "Happy Birthday Sweet 16," "Oh Carol," "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," "Love Will Keep Us Together," and more in a joyous ode to a more innocent time.  Eagle Rock Entertainment also released a DVD of this concert in 2006.

Slipknot / (Sic)nesses Live At Download / Blu-ray
Originally released on DVD in 2010, (Sic)nesses was filmed at the 2009 Download Festival in the UK.  Slipknot headlined the festivities that year, bringing the best of their beastly brand of heavy metal to over 80,000 rabid fans.  This concert captures one of the final performances of founding member/bassist Paul Gray, who passed away in May 2010.  Complete with a 45-minute behind-the-scenes documentary created by band percussionist Clown, as well as four music videos, this Blu-ray is a can't-miss.
