Movie Review: Silent House(2012)

With so many horror films becoming flashier than a music video these days, I can easily say this was one breath of fresh air.
With Sarah and her dad and her Uncle Peter going back to the old family house to fix it up to be sold, they find they are not the only ones with some interest in the house.
No there are no slasher killers or psychos abound, instead there is pacing a great deal of character development and above all a stellar performance from Elizabeth Olsen-here is the sad part.
Horror movies have never been given the same respect as any other genre, for instance animated movies even get nominations now-what's up with that?
Sure  people will say they aren't for everybody, well neither are any film genre when you get down to it.
She will not be nominated for any type of an award which would be a shame, however I will be the first to applaud if she does. She plays scared better than anyone I can remember in recent years, and I watch alot of horror movies.
The real interesting fact of this movie is that it was all shot in ten minute segments and then edited together, that is not the cool part.
The cool part is that they shot it all in one shot, one camera so we follow the action which brings the viewer in with them close up, this works so well for this film.
The ending really threw me for a loop and I did not see that coming at all this is easily one of the best recent horror films I have seen, although more a thriller than horror. My heart was racing as Sarah is close to the camera and we can hear every breath, she panics allot in this and for good reason. But the scenes where the killer is close and she is holding her breath-fantastic.
I know there are a number of people who found this boring and stupid but I could not be happier right now after seeing this film.

Elizabeth Olsen is the younger sister of Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen(TV's Full House). She gives a performance  I am sure her two sisters are proud of and maybe somewhat jealous of as well.

Thank you for reading this
Till Next Time
