Little Shop of Movies Review: THe Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug(Available April 8th, 2014)

Since the 2nd and 3rd chapters of the "Star Wars" chapters back in the day when I was a kid have I been this excited about a 2nd part of a film, mostly because I knew that Smaug was going to be one of the center pieces of the story. My only complaint? They dumbed him down for today's audience, they bantered back and forth very similar to that of what Bilbo and Gollum did in the first piece.
The great amount of battle scenes are fantastic and help keep the story moving and as this is one of the most re-read stories of my childhood I have easily read it over ten times, I was enjoying every part of it--except maybe the added love interest that was not in the book this was added to the film.
I understand the slight love interest but mostly she was added due to the fact that there have been so many ass-kicking female roles in many films of late, Brave held her own and Katniss Everdeen(The Hunger Games)also held her own and rightly so.
With the few faults that I had with the film(for me they are really minor ones as well)This is a great adventure as much fun as when I read the book so many times.
As in the Lord of the Rings there are some great villain's and as my favorite film critic always said, "A film is only as good as it's villain"(Gene Siskel)

Also because J.R.R. Tolkien has written such wonderous characters throughout his career seeing them all come to life is as exciting as the first sighting of Darth Vader all those many years ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Which in some respects holds a candle to that of the writings of this one great man.

Thank you for reading this
Sincerely
