Having not heard much in the death metal category of music this reviewer was pleasantly surprised with this album-this is quite a diverse amount of musical adventure in the fact that it often strays away from the normal convention of what makes Death Metal.
"They Rode On" is a slow, very slow song for a group like this, a ballad and very nicely played out as well, not a Metallica ballad this is still harder.
They say in their bio that they never strayed from their artistic vision of what this album was all about-also quoted is Vocalist E. is very candid in stating this fact. "I piss on so-called artists who adapt themselves in order to reach larger audiences"
E. explains more of the DIY of Watain "All the business related to Watain is now happening within our own closed circle:We have our own label, our own merchandise company, we build our own stage props.Independence & freedom are two of the most central ideas to us"
This is one of the best albums I have heard this year I feel so fortunate to be able to do this, thank you all.
