Music Makes A Stand For The Whales Against Seaworld

So the controversy started many months ago with the makers of "Blackfish" a film of the treatment of the killer whales that are living and dying at Seaworld there  are of course the ones that will defend the group as a whole.
I have been to amusement parks in my life and have seen the sight of these magnificent creatures in these tanks and after realizing what their life consisted of and after canvassing for Greenpeace I really got an understanding of what it was all about just some greedy people once again exploiting animals for a profit, very much like a circus.
Of course SeaWorld will explain that things are false as there is no evidence at all proving that they would be at fault for any of this.
This is where my article is really about there are a number of groups/musicians that are scheduled to perform next year at SeaWorld and there are those after seeing the film "Blackfish" that the Oscars have shortlisted for the Documentary category for next years awards show.
Because I cover so much music on here I thought it fitting that I would let you fine readers know that there are already artists that have pulled their performances from the list to perform next year and they are:

Here is what they wrote on their Facebook wall November 29th:

Hey everybody. We've talked things over, and decided not to play at Seaworld at this time. We watch movies too, ya know! Have you seen Star Trek IV? It's quite good. Kidding... We sometimes do that.

This is a complicated issue, and we don't claim to understand all of it, but we don't feel comfortable proceeding with the gig at this time. The Seaworld folks have been gracious , and extended us invitations to the park to learn more about what they do, and how they do it.

We encourage anybody and everybody to get involved with a charity organization they feel passionate about. We here at Barenaked Ladies have made a decision based on what we feel. It's not about money, or petitions, or press... But it is about our fans. We listen to them, and they're important to us. Their sensibilities resonate with ours, and have for decades now. We've grown up together. Ultimately though, we made the decision that WE feel good about.

Thanks for all of your support. We'll see you all at a mutually agreeable concert venue in the near future!

Barenaked Ladies

Heart has chosen to decline their forthcoming performance at SeaWorld on 2/9/14 due to the controversial documentary film 'Black Fish'.(December 7th on FB)

Willie Nelson has also canceled a SeaWorld performance. Nelson cited scheduling conflicts, but SeaWorld spokesman Nick Gollattscheck’s statement to CNN seems to assume Nelson’s real reason for backing out wasBlackfish-related public pressure. Gollattscheck:
While we’re disappointed a small group of misinformed individuals was able to deny fans what would have been great concerts at SeaWorld by Heart, Barenaked Ladies, and Willie Nelson, we respect the bands’ decisions.

Meanwhile, the AP reports that Joan Jett has asked SeaWorld to cease using “I Love Rock ’N’ Roll” as entrance music for the Shamu Rocks show. In a letter, Jett explained, “I’m among the millions who saw Blackfish and am sickened that my music was blasted without my permission at sound-sensitive marine mammals.” SeaWorld’s Gollattscheck responded that Jett’s music was fully licensed for use, but the Shamu Rocks show is being replaced by another production with different music.(Source: Stereo gum)

Today one of my favorite bands(Top 5)cancelled their performance at SeaWorld as well.

At this time they have not made mention as to why they have pulled their performance from the listing but I am sure they saw the film as well.

I will be updating this when there are other acts that cancel as well.
