Please note for the text it all had to be in red for this post. My words are right after the album cover and label information in Italic.
DOOMSTRESS: Classic Texas Doom Outfit Releases New Album Sleep Among the Dead Friday 5/10/19 through Ripple Music and DHU Records
(from the band's bio)
Now, at last, Sleep Among the Dead is ready to burst onto an anxious audience, who may be surprised to find nods to Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus and even Rush creeping in alongside the perhaps more expected shades of Holy Grove and Monolord-esque modern doom.
Age of the Wolf
From Costa Rica we have stoner-rock oriented band 'Age of the Wolf' who have some great sounds throughout the album.
(From the band's bio)
Formed in 2014 as a stoner rock-oriented act, Age of the Wolf released a self-titled EP which was nominated for Best Hard Rock Release in Costa Rica's ACAM Awards. The track "Memorial" was featured in Flying Elephant's Sessions at Botica Solera, a high-profile Costa Rican music spotlight series, as a result of winning a contest among several national bands. Overall, the EP has helped create a fan base and has allowed Age of The Wolf to play around the country on a regular basis.
Wow, some great thrash from seasoned band 'War Curse', something that is always welcome is some new thrash, but this is not from newcomers as you can read below.
Note: The first guitar solo in the video actually gave me goosebumps!
From band's bio:
The Bay comes to Ohio! Thrash soldiers War Curse channel that iconic thrash sound on their second album, Eradication. But this isn’t a bunch of upstarts in someone’s garage worshipping their heroes - this is a group of seasoned vets whose callused hands and chords are a testament to their dedication to the craft.
As mentioned earlier, the line-up is star-studded, even without getting into the guest performances. James Goetz made his mark drumming for 90s power metallers Division, while Jason Vie Brooks is currently holding down bass for cult heroes Heathen and Exhorder. He invites the legendary Kyle Thomas from the latter to lay down vocals on the penultimate “Deadly Silence”, where his harsh rasp duels with Gordon’s more melodic touch. Further familiar faces crop up on the opening track with Forbidden’s Glen Alvelais, who lays down a ripping solo, and Kragen Lum ( Heathen / Exodus ) lives up to the ‘Serpent’ song title with his weaving contribution.
Handful of Hate
code666We can hear the band's experience through the black metal music, some very fast and ferocious playing from the first track "An Eagle Upon My Sheild" to the final track "Icons With Devoured Faces".
About Handful of Hate
Handful Of Hate was founded in 1993 by frontman and guitarist Nicola Bianchi. After some line-up problems and the tragic death of their bass player Ugo P. in 1994, the band released their 1995 demo, Goetia Summa, supported by a lot of live shows together with the best Italian metal bands. Over the course of 26 years, the band has released six albums and brought respect and credibility into the worldwide underground scene. Now they want to celebrate a quarter of a century of black metal with an astonishing pillar of carnality made music: the long-awaited seventh album Adversus. This is a monument of Black Metal without compromises... 10 Hymns of Blasphemy and Hate!
Kingbéast - "Straps Of Wrath"
Kingbeast has been together since 2014 this German trio shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Kingbeast has been together since 2014 this German trio shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Groove thrash metal monsters Kingbéast are considered to be one of the best-kept secrets of the German scene. With their 2014 self-released debut "Demonic Beast Arises" voted as "Demo of the Month" on Germany's Rock Hard Magazine, its successor will be released before summer and prove that the early praise of their debut is well-deserved.
Flesh & Blood
Frontiers Music s.r.l.
Such a distinct voice that David Coverdale has and he seems to keep getting better.
"Hey, You(You Make Me Rock)" is the one song I keep coming back too, has some classic elements mixed with modern Rock 'N' Roll.
From the band's bio:
Fresh off celebrating their 40th anniversary, rock legends Whitesnake return with their latest studio album, “Flesh & Blood”. This album follows the 2011 critically acclaimed studio album “Forevermore” and 2015’s “The Purple Album”, a reimagining of Deep Purple classics from Whitesnake mastermind’s David Coverdale’s time in that band. The 13 original, visceral tracks on “Flesh & Blood”, the band’s 13th studio album, are, luckily for you dear reader, “all killer, no filler”, as the saying goes.
But would you expect anything less from the ’Snakes?
Since joining the band four years ago, and just in time for the aforementioned “The Purple Album”, Chicago native Joel Hoekstra has really come into his own, not only as a highly impressive axe-slinger, but also as a very accomplished songwriter too, co-writing six of the songs for “Flesh & Blood” with singer David Coverdale. Of course, Joel’s talents are hardly surprising, considering he’s the son of two classical musicians.
Casualties Of Causality
Record label: Inverse Records
Genre: Thrash Metal
Thrash is certainly not going anywhere-not that it was anyway, but bands like Maniac Abductor help keep the thrash scene alive!
Maniac Abductor, the Finnish thrash metal band formed in 2013, will release it's debut album "Casualties Of Causality" via Inverse Records on 10.05.2019. The album has 9 tracks which contain 6 brand new tracks, 2 re-arranged/recorded versions of "First World Disease" & "Thrash Assault" (Thrash Assault EP 2015) and a cover of "Troops of Doom" by the legendary Sepultura
Employed to Serve
Eternal Forward Motion
One of the things I love about doing this is hearing bands that I might not have heard before.
This is one of those bands and I am glad to have their newest album come across my desk.
Few would have predicted that the future of heavy music would emerge from Woking, a small commuter town buried in the Surrey countryside on the outskirts of London.
But the release of Employed To Serve’s second album, The Warmth of a Dying Sun, thrust the metallic hardcore quintet squarely into the spotlight, garnering across-the-board praise, with Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, The Radio 1 Rock Show, Metal Injection, Punktastic, That’s Not Metal, The Independent and more all showing strong support.
‘The Warmth of a Dying Sun’was also voted Kerrang!’s ‘Album Of The Year’ for 2017, an illustrious accolade that has previously been won by some of metal music’s foremost names…

Call Of The Void
Buried In Light
Translation Loss Records
"Suck Me Dry" really kicks it hard and heavy and shows me what this band is made of, some killer heavy metal!
Buried In Light is a concept record about what drives people to walk away from everything - from blind servitude or to suicide in a seemingly "perfect" world. Each song serves as a vignette into the events that push humans over the edge and the situations that push people away from society as a whole. "We find ourselves surrounded by everything we have but it’s still insufferable to be alive. What drives a person to reject everything and choose death?", says drummer Gordon Koch. "We looked at ourselves and the vulnerability of humanity to shed our own light on and into the emotional upheaval that pushes people over the edge, those who have abandoned society, and those who have taken their own lives."
Rockshots Records / Universal
Long-running Italian groove thrash metallers EXTREMA are going to release their seventh studio album, “Headbanging Forever”, on May 10, 2019, via Rockshots Records/Universal Music.
Tommy Massara comments:
“It’s a 100% Metal Album that leaves the listeners breathless. The songs are well balanced, there’s a lot of double bass, tempo changes and screaming lead guitar solos like in the old days. The songwriting of the album reminds of something classic with modern production.”
A Gaze Among Them
With the vocals and the playing of the music for me, it sounds like a mix between -Bjork(when she was with The Sugarcubes)& The White Stripes
Since their inception in 2012, BIG|BRAVE has explored terrains of experimental rock with a clear focus on the key principles; space, volume, and raw emotion. The essence of BIG|BRAVE's magic has always been the way they balance these dynamics, and particularly how much sheer power comes from the beautifully quiet moments.
A Gaze Among Them features Robin Wattie (vocals, electric guitar, guitar amp, bass amp), Mathieu Ball (electric guitar, guitar amps), and Loel Campbell (drums) with guest appearances from Thierry Amar (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Thee Silver Mt Zion) on Contrabass and Seth Manchester's synth overdubs. The album was recorded with Seth Manchester at Machine with Magnets in Pawtucket Rhode Island. The beautiful image adorning the cover, created by Wattie, further demonstrates how BIG|BRAVE has blossomed. The trio sounds rejuvenated and confident, and A Gaze Among Them is the sound of a band truly honing their craft and feeling totally satisfied with it. Compelling. Necessary. Important.
The video below is 10 minutes long
Divided By Darkness
Easily one of the best album covers that I have seen this year for sure!
SPIRIT ADRIFT’s third album, Divided By Darkness delivers on the promise first revealed on Curse Of Conception and then advances far beyond it in every way achieving a timeless album for the ages. The first single “Hear Her” pummels with the concise urgency and unforgettable chorus of a vital radio hit while “Angel & Abyss” has the classic progression that leads from reflective ballad to rapturous anthemic triumph. The continued evolution of Nathan Garrett as a top vocal talent in modern heavy metal shines through amidst the masterful musicianship and huge production value engineered by Sanford Parker.
THE NEW ROUTINE
With a mix of rock, pop this band sounds fresh and some very clear and nice vocals on their first single "Young Bloods"
“We went back to the music we grew up with and tried to find out what got us into
playing in a band in the first place and fused it with the music that inspires us today.
The result is our best album yet. It’s The New Routine.”
Working with different producers and engineers over the years Port Noir decided to bring
them all together to work on The New Routine. Together with Daniel Bergstrand
(Meshuggah, In flames), David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia) and Lawrence McRory
(Darkane, FKU) Port Noir has developed a unique sound that has characterized all their
